Curing Lyme Disease in Puerto Vallarta

Curing Lyme Disease in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Jake Ames, MD, HMD
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Today I’m going to talk about curing chronic Lyme disease.  I treat cancer and many severe chronic diseases including mold poisoning, Lou Gehrig disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, environmental illness, etc.  Many of my patients with the above diseases have chronic Lyme disease.  All of my Lou Gehrig disease patients had Lyme disease.  Over 95% of my multiple sclerosis patients have Lyme disease.  A great majority of my Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer's disease patients have Lyme disease.  Everyone with chronic fatigue syndrome, cancer, and fibromyalgia should be tested for Lyme disease.

Testing for Lyme Disease

Don’t waste your time and money.  Use IgeneX Lab in California (www.igenex.com) and/or Fry Labs in Arizona (www.frylabs.com).  I usually have my patients do the IgM Lyme Western Blot test at IgeneX labs, and if my patients can afford to check for Lyme co-infections, do them at Fry Labs or IgeneX.

IgeneX checks for the 31 and 34 band which many labs do not.  They also tell you if any of the bands are equivocal, which most labs will call negative.  An equivocal 39 band is almost always a diagnosis of Lyme disease.

If a patient is suspected of having Lyme disease, he should be treated for Lyme disease, since the diagnosis of Lyme disease is at this time a clinical diagnosis.  Still, insurance companies want to see a positive test for Lyme disease.  I would not do any PCR tests because these tests are highly specific but not so sensitive.

Lyme Disease Symptoms

Lyme disease is called the Great Imitator like syphilis was over 100 years ago.  Common symptoms are fatigue, muscle and joint aches,   headaches and migraines, brain fog, muscle twitching, allergies, chemical sensitivities, heart palpitations and heart arrhythmia.  Some strains may cause Lou Gehrig disease, other strains may present as arthralgias, fibromyalgia, heart arrhythmia's, etc.  There is often a crossover of many diseases and symptoms.   Basically, if you have a chronic disease (over one year) get checked for Lyme disease and have your doctor also check you for an autoimmune disease by doing a screening ANA and rheumatoid factor (RF) blood test.  Lyme disease causes many autoimmune diseases.  I have seen food and environmental allergies and prostatitis caused by Lyme disease.

Why Antibiotics Rarely Cure Chronic Lyme Disease

Almost always when a patient has chronic Lyme disease antibiotics do not work.  Many of these patients have been on IV penicillin, IV Rocephin, doxycycline, Flagyl, tinidazole, Zithromax, Ceftin, Biaxin, rifampin, etc.  Giving these patients more antibiotics are just going to cause more side effects.  I have used tinidazole 500 mg 2 twice a day for 1-1.5 years, and this antibiotic I had the most success with.  It kills the spirochete, cyst, and L-forms of Borrelia.  I also pulsed tinidazole with doxycycline 100 mg three times a day, 3-4 days a week and tinidazole 500 mg 2 twice a day 3-4 days a week.  This helped many of my patients.  The therapy usually took at least one year.

The reason why antibiotics usually don’t cure chronic Lyme disease
is that these patients have a bad Motherboard, or they were born lacking a full deck of cards.  This contributes to them having chronic diseases.

Patients may have the MTHFR mutation, elevated lipoprotein (a), elevated homocysteine, chronic heavy metal and chemical poisoning, hormone deficiencies, amino acid, organic acid, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, root canals (always 100% infected), mercury amalgam dental filings, periodontal disease and gingivitis,  chronic mold exposure, severe food and environmental allergies, incorrect ratio of proteins, fats and carbohydrates in their diet, electromagnetic field exposure (EMF’s), severe or chronic emotional abuse, other bad HLA genes causing or contributing to chronic mold, viral or bacterial infections, undiagnosed multiple co-infections, nano toxicity, etc.

You can see that treating chronic Lyme disease is not as easy as just giving antibiotics.

Lab Tests

IgM Lyme Western Blot test.  Test for the usual Lyme co-infections - IgeneX and Fry Labs know how to do this.
Check serum lipoprotein (a), fibrinogen, homocysteine, CRP-HS, full chemistry panel including the lipid panel, GGT, ionized calcium, A/G ratio, CBC, urinalysis, 5 day oral afternoon temperatures at least two hours after lunch, free T3, total T3, total T4, TSH, anti thyroglobulin antibody, anti microsomal antibody, IgG and IgA food allergies for 180 foods, ANA,  Rheumatoid Factor (RF), Doctors Data Hair Elements Test, HLA-DR and HLD-DQ oligotyping, accurate to 5 digits, IgG, IgM, IgA, IgE (if atopic) IgG sub-classes, total compliment, C2, C3 and C4., pesticide, herbicide, fungicide and chemical poisoning tests.  These days since medical insurance won’t pay to test for chemical poisons, I just have patients buy a good infrared sauna which can costs less than the chemical testing.

This is a good start.  Many of you with chronic Lyme disease have lost their jobs and have very little money for lab testing.  Do not worry.  There is hope.

You can do more tests mentioned in the book, Mold Warriors by Ritchie Shoemaker, M.D.

Interpreting Laboratory Tests

This is where you need to find a Lyme literate doctor who has been treating hundreds and hundreds of Lyme disease patients for over 20 years.  Your doctor should have some gray hair, and be an authority in many branches of medicine such as endocrinology, toxicology, chelation therapy, laboratory medicine, environmental medicine, “energy medicine”, allergies, kinesiology, nutrition, emotional abuse, etc.  Most physicians are clueless in knowing the optimal laboratory ranges.  If you have to drive over 300 miles to see an excellent doctor, then do it!  I do mention optimal lab ranges in some of my other blogs.

Here are some optimal ranges:

Lipoprotein (a) <20 mg/dL
Homocysteine  4-7 µmol/L
Fibrinogen 150-300 mg/dL
CRP-HS <1 mg/L
Cholesterol/HDL <3.5; <2.5 ideal
Cholesterol 170-250 (Your Chol/HDL ratio is more important)
LDL Cholesterol 100-130mg/dL
HDL Cholesterol (keep your cholesterol to HDL <3.5
Estradiol (E2) : Estrone (E1) 2:1 females
Estradiol (males) 20-30 pg/mL
DHEA-Sulfate 250-300 ug/mL (adults)
Progesterone (post menopause) 3 ng/mL
Progesterone (male) 0.7-1 ng/mL
Testosterone (male) 700-1200 ng/dL
Testosterone (female) 70-130 ng/dL
Pregnenolone 100-250 ng/dL (a low normal pregnenolone with an optimal DHEA-Sulfate level is fine.  The pregnenolone is being converted to DHEA.)
TSH 0.4-2 mIU/L (Always check for Type 2 hypothyroidism.)
Temperature, afternoon, oral 98.2-98.6 degree Fahrenheit or 36.7-37 degrees Celsius.

Chronic Lyme Disease Treatments

I have blogs on most of these treatments.

Prime Treatments

1:  Urine therapy and urine fasting (Number 1 treatment)
You need to work up to a 14 day urine fast.  If that is not enough, get your weight back and do a 21 urine fast.  Long urine fasting should be supervised by an experienced urine faster.  Do weekly electrolytes.  Read my urine question and answer blog.
2:  Ozone therapy (rectal, intravenous, major autohemotherapy) daily
3:  IV vitamin C 100 grams twice a day, 6 days a week for 30 days.
4:  IV phosphatidylcholine 20 cc twice a week
5:  Oral turpentine (www.diamondgforestproducts.com) ONLY
The turpentine dosage is individualized and is to be determined by one’s physician.  See my turpentine blog.
6:  Treat the mineral, vitamin, amino acid, organic acid and hormonal deficiencies.
7:  Remove toxins (heavy metals, chemicals, root canals, mercury amalgam dental fillings, dental cavitations).  Use EDTA, DMPS, FAR and near infrared saunas.
8:  Dr. Jan Kwasniewski’s ketogenic diet.
9:  Only drink distilled water (pure water).
10:  Buteyko Breathing (Buy the Frolov breathing device and practice ten minutes twice a day).

It’s taking me 45 years to learn medicine and I study medicine daily.  If you’re not getting well, find a Lyme literate physician.  If your plumber is taking three days to fix your clogged sink, find a new plumber.  You get what you pay in life, so compensate your doctor. You cannot heal  yourself alone
