Infectious Agents Causing Dementia

It is important to not overlook infectious agents in treating Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.  I will give you blood tests to do on all of your patients suffering from dementia.

HIV/AIDS:  The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can cause dementia.  This condition is called HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND).  The blood tests to do are HIV antibody and HIV antigen.

Prion disease:  I did six weeks of neuropathology at New York University in Manhattan, and the Diener (pathology assistant) died from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). I believe he got it from doing autopsies.  There are no blood tests to diagnose Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD).  Neurological clinical diagnoses and a brain MRI are used.  If your patient has this disease, wish him well in the afterlife.

Herpesviruses:  Yes, the herpes viruses can get into the brain and cause dementia.  Order these tests:  Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1) Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 (HSV-2) IgG and IgM; Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV) IgG and IgM; Cytomegalovirus (CMV) IgG and IgM; Epstein-Barr virus IgG and IgM; Order Human Herpes Virus V6(HHV-6) HHV-6A and HHV-6B IgG and IgM.

Bacteria:  Syphilis caused by the bacteria Treponema pallidum can cause neurosyphilis.  Order these tests:  Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL) test, and the Rapid Plasma Reagin (RPR) test.  If your patient has had syphilis order these tests:  Fluorescent Treponemal Antibody Absorption (FTA-ABS) test, the Treponema pallidum Particle Agglutination (TP-PA) assay, and enzyme immunoassays (EIAs).

Lyme disease:  This is a tough one.  Unlike syphilis, the Lyme disease bacteria, Borrelia burgdorferi is mainly in tissues and not a lot in the blood.  This disease is not easy to diagnose.  I would only use these two labs:  IgeneX inc.  (www.igenex.com) and Fry Laboratories (www.frylabs.com).  If you want to save money, just order the Lyme IgM Western Blot test from IgeneX.  Order the co-infections tests also.

Chlamydia pneumoniae and Mycoplasma pneumonia and the different species of these can cause dementia.  These bacteria are super hard to diagnose.  The PCR tests are highly specific, but have low sensitivity.  I use kinesiology to diagnose these bacteria.  I am 95 % accurate using kinesiology, because I've been doing it on all of my patients since 1993.

Cryptococcus neoformans or any fungus in the brain can cause dementia.  This fungus shows up a lot in AIDS patients.  Test for Cryptococcus neoformans IgG, and IgM.

Protozoa and parasites:   Toxoplasma gondii, a parasite you can get from cat poop can cause dementia.  I’ve had three cats in my life, but dogs are safer.

COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) I’m seeing shedding on my un-jab patients.  Check for spike protein antibody, fibrinogen (<300), CRP-HS (<1), and D-Dimer (reference range), ESR (around 5).
